Brand Identity – Mail Dock (pitch work)

Brand Identity – Mail Dock (pitch work)

posted by Joel Glovier on 05/05/2009.

This project was a pitch project for a local business, the Mail Dock. The Mail Dock is a retail shipping store in Lebanon. I decided to put together a brand identity kit and pitch it to them. Click the image above for more details from the project. The photo is a retouched version showing what the logo I designed could look like on their store.

The gradient effect is very awesome. What is the use for the photo? If the photo is being used for the project, can the other business names be faded out, and the Mail Dock name take priority? When looking at this photo, it appears to be part of the package ad! I know your talent with enhancing & tweaking photos could really put some edge on this for the promos! SwedeGirl

I do hope Bob appreciates the work. The place needs a much needed graphic revamp. I think this would have some cool potential for interior signage and their website.

I’ve been thinking about this logo a bit more, so here are few thoughts. Are you ready?

The logo is too static for me. For a shipping place, I’d like to see more movement reflected in the identity. As it stands, I’m left to wonder: does this company provide shipping services or do they just sell packaging materials? Additionally, I think it needs a bit more personality. Bob takes pride in his customer service and friendly/personable atmosphere. Giving the logo some character will convey that.

I don’t know how you feel about me critiquing your work. I know that, personally, my initial reaction to criticism is to disdain it. But eventually, I come around and give it some more thought. In the end, I may or may not agree.

    Peace.

Carlos, thanks for your feedback. I appreciate hearing a perspective from outside my own head.

    Thanks.
